The amazing thing about horses is that they have no agenda with us, they do however mirror back to us our strengths of character, our heart, and our real intentions, which are often incongruent with what we say we are; and this allows us to expand on our self-limiting perception.

Dr. Sandra Thorpe, Equine Collaboration Educator, and Rich Muller, a successful business entrepreneur, have combined their expertise to bring you a dynamic new way of
viewing yourself as a leader in today's fast paced technological world.
Step back for a moment to reflect on what it might look like in order for
you to become passionately involved in what you want to do rather than aimlessly following what you ought to do.
The horses will help you to see the difference. It's amazing, but time
after time they will react to any incongruence that you may not even be
aware of as you rush from here to there. Horses don't rush anywhere except
when frightened and then the flight instinct kicks in. Horses spend a llot of
time reading each other's body language and establishing herd order so that
everyone is happy. Horses know where they stand with each other. Horses
will in their non judgmental way, lead you to reconnecting with the three"C"s. Creativity, as a way of allowing new for insights that cannot be
gathered using linear thought processes. Compassion takes away judgment and
replaces judgment and criticism with acknowledgement. Communication moves
us from traditional forms to the realms of intuition and metaphysics. Use
of the three "C"s can transport you in ways that are non traditional but
promise epiphanies that will indeed make you feel better and move forward in
your life.

** The Equine Encounters Programs**
Why we use specially-selected horses in our teaching.
They have no hidden agendas.
* They mirror what they see in us.
* They can sense true intention.
* They allow us to be honest and open.
* They are non-judgmental.
All of Smoketree Institute's unique programs contain the following core elements:
1. The performance agreement
2. "Get Acquainted & Introduction"- horses and participants choose partners.
3. "Energy Grooming"- a trust building session between humans and horses.
4. Exercises in the round pen and arena to gain information from the horses based on participant's specific goals and focus of the session.
5. Interactive group discussions to assist each individual in understanding the learning experience.
Surprisingly to most people, there is no riding during the Equine Encounters Foundation & Advanced programs. However, Masters
sessions usually include some horseback riding in order to share horse communication at a deeper level.
Facilitators provide personal development guidance and encounters will vary according to the focus of each individual and the group purpose. At Smoketree Institute, leadership revolves around self discovery, relationships, and spiritual harmony by allowing the authenticity of the horse to make metaphorical bridges to new ways of viewing old patterns. Our focus on Communication, Compassion, and Creativity provides a guarantee for increased self-awareness.
The Equine Encounter Programs Consist of:
Foundation Course (1 day). Consists of practicing interaction skills and communication with the horses, resulting in enhanced self-discovery.- $225*.
Advanced Course (2 days). Learn to personalize your experiential learning with the horses, accompanied by individualized coaching. - $350*.
Masters Course (2.5 days)/ Develop your leadership skills through enhanced communication and self-actualization skill sets. This class is the "gateway" to becoming an accredited Equine Encounters Facilitator. - $580*

Individual coaching with Dr. Thorpe is available, upon request at $245.00 hour. This individualized support is highly valued by serious participants who are striving for personal growth and dramatic & immediate improvement in their relationships.
Who We Are:
Dr. Thorpe facilitates and coaches at the Smoketree Institute using her thirty years of teaching and leadership experience from kindergarten through the masters level at National University. In 1996 Dr. Thorpe successfully launched the Cortez Hill Academy in San Diego to educate children in the secondary grades using alternative learning programs. In 2001 she left the school, moved to Borrego Springs and purchased a 5 acre horse property. Since that time she has conducted extensive research and development into what has become the Equine Encounter programs.
